5. GitLab Repository Access


The source code is hosted at the Max–Planck–Institut für Eisenforschung at the GitLab server magit1.mpie.de

TortoiseGit with Windows (file) explorer

  • right-click in the directory of choice and select the TortoiseGit option »Git clone...« from the Explorer context menu.
  • if you use https and password authentication, specify
  • if you use SSH and keyfile authentication, specify

Command line tools under Linux / Mac OS / Windows

  • change into desired directory
  • to clone the repository into the current working directory via https and password issue
    > git clone https://YOURNAME@magit1.mpie.de:damask/DAMASK.git
  • to clone the repository into the current working directory via SSH and keyfile issue
    > git clone git@magit1.mpie.de:damask/DAMASK.git


Access rights

  • No special access rights are required for cloning the repository (read access).
  • If you want to contribute code (write access), please write an email to damask@mpie.de or request access via GitLab.
  • Access via SSH and password does not work (a keyfile is required)
